The MFL curriculum at St Edmund’s allows all students to develop an interest and enthusiasm for learning about the wider world both through learning a foreign language and learning about the cultural traditions of the hispanic and francophone world.

Our curriculum is designed to encourage, support and challenge students to enhance and use communication, problem solving, memorisation, research and presentation, literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.
We teach appropriate grammar, vocabulary and phonics throughout the key stages through a variety of engaging activities whilst also building on the holistic needs of our students, such as: compassion, understanding, self reflection and self confidence to take a risk and resilience to manage when faced with difficult situations.

In the MFL curriculum there is a strong connection and relevance to the lives of young people in our community, underpinned by a breadth of cultural capital, in order to engender respect and understanding of the traditions and faiths of others as truly global citizens.
