Gold Award Care Trip 2019

18th November 2019Miss A Kane

Sunday 20th October 2019 – Day 1

The Gold Care Award trip 2019 had started!

Everyone gathered at the train station at 1:00pm, excited to begin the journey. We boarded our train at 1:30pm and we were off on our way to Stafford (the first stop), which was  where we had a bite to eat. Soon we were on our second train to Liverpool! As soon as we arrived, we took a calm walk through the city centre towards our accommodation. After we sorted out rooms we set off to start out sightseeing adventures.

First, we took a walk to one of the cathedrals. Although it was rather windy and cold, the experience was still great. The design of the cathedral was quite historic and it had some interesting features like the organ and there were also many more. Next we went to the Catholic Cathedral where we noticed a different style of architecture. This one was round, bright and extremely modern compared to the Anglican Cathedral. When we went inside, we saw how different it was in layout as well as atmosphere.

After this we walked around Liverpool to find something to eat. We then ventured around Liverpool to where the Beatles started off but quickly had to leave due to the time of night. We returned to the Hostel and Mr Harris took a group of students onto the ferris wheel and we had an amazing view of the night sky. Then we went back to the hostel and got ready for bed, however, not without a few games of cards!

Monday 21st October 2019 – Day 2

The day began at 7:45 when we all woke up and prepared ourselves for the second day in Liverpool. Everyone met in the cafeteria, where we all had a delicious breakfast whilst playing cards. We brought down our bags and grabbed our lunch. By 10:00 we were on our way to explore the first museum!

First, we travelled on foot to the Slavery Museum. As soon as we arrived, everyone parted ways to go take a look around. There were numerous floors dedicated to a range of different sections, for example the Titanic and Slavery. We saw many different things, from life size human figures to video clips. In my opinion, the video about the Titanic was the most interesting because it showed us the whole journey, right up to it’s tragic end.   Furthermore, there were fact phones dotted around where you could listen to someone talking about their point of view at certain points in history. Once we had all looked around, we met back at the entrance and went out to the docks. There were many shops and cafĂ©s! Once again, we all split up and did some shopping. The sweet shop caught our eyes first! After venturing around, everyone met up at the tables and shared lunch together that we had packed earlier on in the day.

Afterwards, we started walking to the Museum of Liverpool. Again, we explored and took in the facts about the history of Liverpool. There was an amazing life size train on the second floor, which we could sit in and see the view looking down at the ground floor. This was my favourite museum because of the unusual and creative layout of the place. In addition to that, there was even a karaoke booth where you could sing along to the Beatles songs. The Beatles of course were loved and appreciated, especially by the residents of Liverpool as that was where the famous group originated and performed many of their songs. You could learn about John Lennon, his wife and their history together. I think it’s most definitely worth a trip there because it was so cool to learn all this stuff through a physical walkthrough, which not everyone would get the opportunity to experience.

After a long day of walking about and enhancing our knowledge of British and Liverpudlian history, we came back to our accommodation and grabbed our bags. Everyone had a final group chat about our experience and showed our gratitude to the members of staff who made us feel so welcome before  we began our journey back to Wolverhampton. We took our final walk through the city centre and hopped on our train. In no time we were finally back home!

Liverpool Cathedral

“It was a pleasure to lead this trip for the Gold Care Award winners in recognition of their huge contribution to the academy and I hope they enjoyed their time exploring one of our most culturally significant cities” – Mr Harris.

            Tanki Online

18th November 2019Miss A Kane

Tanki Online is massive multiplayer video game that involves you becoming a tank and challenging/fighting other people’s tanks across the globe. You can customize your tank by going to the shop and paying for upgrades with the crystals which you earn from battles. There are different types of battle modes you can choose such as: deathmatch, team deathmatch, capture the flag, control points, assault, rugby, solo juggernaut and finally team juggernaut. For some of these battle modes you will need to have a high rank (so your level needs to be higher).  If you haven’t got a high score,  you can just do a classic deathmatch until you have achieved a high enough level.

The Shop:

In the shop not only can you customize your tank but also upgrade it so it becomes stronger. This can give you an advantage in the game so if you were to upgrade your defense and attack the other players in your game would find it much harder to take you down. But for me it would be very easy. You can also buy something called turrets.  These are the things that are on top of your tank and shoot different types of weapons.  Examples of this are lava, ice or even fir.e These can also be upgraded.

Maps:

Finally, when you would like to go into battle there is a voting area on which map you would like to fight on.   You have three choices; the one with the most votes is the one you will be battling on.

I hope you give this game a try.

Stranger Things

18th November 2019Miss A Kane

Stranger Things is an extremely famous TV Show, which was created by the Duffer Brothers. If you are interested you can watch this on Netflix.

There are a total of 3 Seasons of the show. A brief explanation of the show is that a portal was somehow opened in the American town of Hawkins.  This portal was known as the Upside Down. Unfortunately a monster was released from here called the Mindflayer, which is a shadow like creature that infects people’s minds, controlling them in order to infect other people.. However, a girl called Eleven is born with a special power allowing her to move things with her mind. She is the only one who can close the portal (aka the Upside Down). This is continued further on into the series of Stranger Things series 1, 2 & 3.

I am also looking forward to the next season (S4),which will be coming out in 2020. Netflix has already released a teaser trailer for season 4.

Mario Kart- Why it is better than F-Zero By Olivier

18th November 2019Miss A Kane

I guess you could call this a rebuttal, since my mate Sofia has decided that F-Zero, some dead game whose last game was released 15 BLOODY YEARS AGO. Yeah, that’s right Sofia. Mario Kart is simply better.

I think that being theoretical is what caused Sofia to be this WRONG. And that is why Mario Kart is made for fun. SOFIA, I’LL GIVE YOU A GRAND IF YOU SEE ME IN 500 YEARS RIDING A 700mph CAR. You don’t find coins on the road, but neither do you see green balls that electrocute you either.  Also, when in heck do you find cars with wings. WHEN IN HECK DO YOU EVER SEE A MIDDLE-AGED MAN RIDING A BLUE CAR WITH WINGS, SOFIA? All in all, Sofia’s arguments are complete C O D S W A L L O P and therefore my argument is irrefutable evidence that Mario Kart is indeed better than F-Zero.

Woojin Leaves Stray Kids!

18th November 2019Miss A Kane

On 28th October, Woojin decided to leave SKZ (aka Stray Kids) due to personal reasons. The fandom STAY and multistans were traumatized as they thought the day would never come when his contract was permanently terminated.

Who are Stray Kids?

Stray Kids is a KPOP band that started in 2017.  The band consists of 9 members but since the angel left there are now 8 members left.

Why he left and will he ever comeback?

Well, nobody knows why he left SKZ except saying it was for personal reasons. He was removed quickly from the official website of the company, SM entertainment. Some say that he has been kicked out but this is merely rumour.

BUT there could be a chance that Woojin could make a new fresh start still doing his career as  a K-POP star.   There is hope he could join a new company, since SM entertainment treats their stars poorly, or even go solo.

We will have to wait and see what the future holds for Woojin.

Miitopia: Its an RPG, now with actual friends By Olivier

18th November 2019Miss A Kane

You have played regular turn-based RPGs before. All of them, except Earthbound probably, have anime characters. Now you can ditch the anime characters, and have your friends (and family, if you have one of them…).

You can be a wizard. Or a knight. Or a princess. Or a cat. Or a tank. Or a cook. Or a FLOWER. You can be anything. But you have to have friends. Sorry to disappoint some of you, but you have to have friends to play. The Dark Lord is bored so he steals everyone’s faces. Their literal faces. And a random kid named Olivier (or whoever you are) decides that they are the chosen one. Epic.

Then you add a friend to the game. You design their face and what they look like. Then you’re good to go. And you need 15 of them for a standard playthrough, and that’s not counting all the other characters in the game.

The music is reminiscent of Danganronpa, using human vocals in some songs. The music usually reflects the mood of the current scene. It’s usually really chirpy.

This game is good. Great actually. And it’s on 3DS. Shame Nintendo took 14 years to take the opportunity to make a game like this.

Harry Potter and The Chamber Of Secrets

18th November 2019Miss A Kane

As Harry goes into his 2nd year of Hogwarts more trouble is stirring, muggle-borns are being petrified by an unknown being, yet the teachers know what seems to be going on.

Harry finds a book which seems to belong to “Tom Marvolo Riddle” He decides to write in it (I’m not entirely sure why but sure, let’s go with it.) and he gets at reply.

Shockingly, he thinks its a good idea to keep talking to this strange being locked inside of a 50+ year old diary, who could be a killer, and he then gets pulled 50 years into the past to when the Chamber Of Secrets was first opened and killed a girl.  This girl later became known as “Moaning Myrtle”, who was in the first movie and would later star in the next few movies, and almost cause the school to get closed down. That would petrify you.

The new Defence Of The Dark Arts teacher, Gilderoy Lockhart, claims to be able to find the Chamber Of Secrets, so the most logical thing to do is to make him go fight the hideous beast that lies beneath, but he thinks he should bring the “Famous Harry Potter”, not to mention, Lockhart being “an extremely strong wizard” and “can fight almost anything” is complete and utter baloney!

The film is a little different from the book, but which is best?  That’s up to you to decide!
