Thank you to the Express and Star for your coverage of the Stars of St Edmund’s. It was wonderful to share this celebration.
Today Mr Perkins, Mrs Jeer and Mr Selvey celebrated the fantastic achievements of Year 7 and 8 pupils this half term.
It was great to see so many pupils doing well, with their efforts getting recognised and prizes handed out.
We are wishing everyone an excellent Christmas holiday! We hope that everyone continues their efforts into the new term where new challenges await with numerous opportunities to shine,
Well done all!
– Mr Selvey
Yesterday our MFL department held another successful St Edmund’s Languages Bake Off.
The theme of this years bake off was “languages” or “Christmas around the world”.
The rules were: no nuts allowed, there must be a list of allergens and only one entry per student. The prize for first place was a £30 Uber Eats voucher.
The baked goods were sold to staff and students at breaktime. The judging was also held at this time.
All the money raised from the sale is going to support families in our school community over Christmas.
Thank you to everyone who took part and made it a great event!
On Tuesday, there was success for the year 7/8 girls in their cup match away at Moseley Park.
We were 1-0 down in the first half but made a quick recovery with a goal by Daisy and two own goals with assists from Leja making it 3-1!
Everyone played amazingly, considering it was our first game as a team and the muddy conditions, a special well done to all the year 7’s who played incredibly well in the older league.
Besides the fox who came to steal the ball away, the game ran smoothly and everyone showed respect to the other team – following our CARE values.
A report by Daisy Winwood
Well done girls and good luck in the semi-finals!
On Wednesday 20th December, Mr Taylor hosted the Year 9 rewards assembly.
There were prizes galore as the fantastic pupils of Year 9 were recognised, and their efforts were rewarded.
Lots of pupils in this year group have done exceptionally well since October half term and their certificates, chocolates and vouchers were well deserved.
A huge well done to all pupils involved and the fantastic work that has been done by the Year 9 team.
Well done all!
Today our Year 11 students got to experience the feeling of GCSE results day as they got their mock results.
This experience allowed them to understand the anticipation that comes with receiving exam results. It also helped them to understand why revision and mock exams are important preparation for their GCSE exams.
Well done Year 11 on your mock results!
A Christmas message from the parish team of Blessed Carlo Acutis.
Please see the opening hours for Lads and Lasses over the festive period.
Chloe, a current year 8 student, is training with the national swimming development squad at the Royal Wolverhampton School swimming club.
She competes all over England and has achieved qualifying times for the Staffordshire county championships in multiple events over the last few years.
Last season, she won a medal in the 400m freestyle and made the final of the West Midlands regional championship in the 50m freestyle.
She was also selected to swim for Staffordshire in July at an inter county championship.
Chloe had the opportunity to take part in the Welsh national winter championships last weekend.
Congratulations to Chloe on all your achievements so far, we look forward to celebrating more of your successes in the future.
On Thursday, Loyola Academy students took part in the annual #GCHQChristmasChallenge.
Students were set the task of cracking seven fiendish puzzles and using the answers to help uncover a hidden festive message!
Students had to work together in teams and utilise their different strengths to solve the puzzles.
Congratulations to students in years 8, 9 and 11 who fully completed the challenge and solved the final code.
You can have a go at home too; the challenge is available for anyone to download on the GCHQ website now.
