Jasper is our friendly Pawsitive Impact Officer here to help students who need a little bit of extra support from our cuddly pal throughout the day. Jasper helps our students to take a moment of calmness throughout their day and have a break from all the hard work that they do.
Jasper frequently makes an appearance during breaktimes and lunchtimes in the foyer for any students who want to say hello. Jasper also takes time out of his very busy schedule to welcome students into the academy on many mornings with a wet nose and a wagging tail, seeing Jasper in the morning is the perfect way to start the day.
âHow many are your works, Lord! In wisdom, you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.â Psalm 104:24-30
As part of our European Day of Languages celebrations, parents and carers of our new Year 7 were invited to join us for a âEuropean Day of Languagesâ themed Macmillan Coffee Morning, between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. today. All funds raised from the sale will go to Macmillan Cancer Support who help raise vital funds to support over 3 million people living with cancer in the UK.Â
Students also had the opportunity to get involved in the cake sale at specific times throughout the day and were encouraged to come to the academy wearing clothes to represent a country from Europe.
Thank you to all parents and carers who came along to support the cake sale and help us to continue building the strength of our parent partnership and thank you to Miss Blanchette, Curriculum Leader for Modern Foreign Languages for organising the event.

Students in year 9 were busy in an interactive challenge in Geography consolidating their knowledge over the past 2 weeks. This encouraged students to process and make links to prior learning and was a great success!
The application process was rigorous and extensive, involving cover letters, video presentations based on Laudato Si, and panel interviews. Each student performed with confidence and pride on the range of activities, events, and super-curricular work they had done over the years.

With the world beginning to experience the effects of climate change; different species of plant and animals becoming extinct every day; and micro-plastics being found in the most remote locations on Earth – now is the time to educate future generations about the impact of our actions on the planet we call home.
The Eco-Schools programme does this by providing a simple framework that has been designed to raise awareness of environmental issues whilst empowering young people to make a positive difference by taking a lead on environmental actions and projects in their school and local community.Â
Within this framework, young people have the freedom to decide on the environmental issues they would like to tackle. Once young people have chosen their topics, they decide what actions they would like to take and how they are going to involve their school and community. The process takes around one academic year to complete and culminates in an Eco-Schoolsâ assessor looking over a schoolâs application and evidence, to recognise and celebrate their achievements.
The Eco-Schools programme began in 1994, is delivered in more than 70 countries around the world and England is operated by the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy. The programme not only positively impacts our planet (for example schools participating in the programme planted 50,188 trees during the last academic year), it also benefits young people, building teamwork and leadership skills whilst increasing confidence and reducing eco-anxiety.
As a key part of the Eco-Schools process, it involves our entire school and wider community, we wanted to get in touch to let you know about our involvement. We also wanted to let you know what to expect over the coming months: regular updates on our school website and social media; invitations to participate in environmental events and projects; and increasingly conscientious young people.Â
Our Eco Club will be meeting every week after school and is open to all pupils.Â
Thank you to Digital Disability for providing funding to enable us to take part in the Eco-Schools programme this year.
