We were delighted to welcome Stuart Anderson MP for South West Wolverhampton to our school today. After a tour of the school, Mr Anderson met outside (socially distanced of course!) with students who are keen to know more about the world of politics and what Mr Anderson is doing to support our City and our schools post-COVID.

Freddy Lambert and Austen Jijo, both year 9,   questioned and debated with Mr Anderson on a range of topics including issues in Palestine, China , Russia and Tibets showing a real concern for the plight of the vulnerable in conflicts and human rights abuses across the world.  They also found out about what it is like in the Houses of Parliament and how he faired with his maiden speech.

Tia Dixon and Theophilia Muoneke, our Sixth Form Council members also had the opportunity to put some questions to Mr Anderson around his plans on how  to improve the Wolverhampton economy with the allocated £234,488 funding from the Welcome Back Fund. He explained that whilst he doesn’t allocate the money he can influence how the money is spent and shared his ideas on a city learning quarter and city centre education.

Mr Anderson was also asked how he is going to protect local nature reserves including Smestow Valley.  He explained his goal was to continue to fight to protect green areas and encourage new housing developments to be built on brownfields.
