National School Sports Week is back for 2023, and this year it’s important to make sure that all children in the UK are active for the Chief Medical Officers’ recommended minimum time of 60 minutes a day.
Find out how to ‘play for fun, play for 60’!

On Wednesday 3rd of May, we began our “Rosary Rally” for the month of May. This began with a meeting of the academy Chaplaincy Group who made a floral crown for the statue of Our Lady in the Peace Garden. We processed around the garden and crowned Our Lady as Queen of the May, singing hymns and praying a litany to her. From that day, and every lunchtime, we prayed a decade of the Rosary in many of the different languages spoken by our students and their families, or which are taught by our wonderful Modern Foreign Languages department (thank you Miss Rainey for giving us names of students and languages they speak). The languages we prayed in were:
We had hoped to finish by half term but two bank holidays and strike days meant we had to extend May into the first week of the new half-term. We would like to thank all those students who came to pray the Rosary, to lead it in a different language, but especially Alan Kalinowski, Anshdeep Singh Kaur (who came every single day), and Treasure Solanke
who were the bedrock of this period of prayer.
We would like to remind all our students and staff that the chapel is always open and all are welcome to come and pray, sit in silence, or have a chat about faith and life in general. We have our voluntary Mass each Monday during tutor time, and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament each Friday lunchtime.
We look forward to seeing you.

St Edmund’s attendance is in the top 10% of all FFT schools nationally for the 2022 Autumn Term and has been awarded the National School Attendance Award.Â
We are delighted to share such good news. This success is a result of supportive parents/carers and dedicated hard work from our wonderful staff.
Thank you.
Thank you to everybody who entered our Year 7 Christmas Card Competition. We had lots of creative entries and it was wonderful to see lots of year 7’s getting involved and submitting their designs.
It was a very difficult decision for our judges, but we narrowed it down to the following:
The winning card will be printed professionally in-house and used by the Principal, Mrs Hazeldine, to wish our stakeholders and wider St Edmund’s family a merry Christmas.

We have a vacancy for a Cover Supervisor on a permanent contract to work term time only.
This is a very exciting time to join St Edmund’s Catholic Academy. Our extremely popular school is situated in leafy Compton Park, adjacent to the Wolves Academy training grounds, with its wonderful open fields and sports facilities.
Ofsted 2019:Â
Teachers love working at the school. Staff work very hard to help pupils to achieve. There
are excellent relationships between staff and students. The ‘CARE’ culture runs through
the school and is felt positively by all.Â

Well done to twelve Year 7’s who attended the playmakers leadership course at Aldersley Stadium.
I really cherished my experience at the playmakers leadership event. The reason for this is because the members of staff had organised the event very well. They had also taught us how to prepare a game so that everyone was included and would be able to have fun. They showed us that sometimes you have to make the activity easier or harder so that it is still enjoyable for everyone.
We played a variety of different games and socialised with others around us. Some of the activities included working as a team, playing competitive games such as dodgeball, tennis and benchball.
My overall thoughts of this event are that I have become more confident in being a leader by becoming more sociable with others around me.
Thank you to Mrs Ridley for taking the group.

We are pleased to announce our new Senior Prefect Team has been appointed.Â
The application process was rigorous and extensive, involving cover letters, video presentations based on Laudato Si and panel interviews. Each student performed with confidence and pride on the range of activities, events and super-curricular work they had done over the years.Â
Senior Lead Prefects : Kyle and AshpriyaÂ
Lead Prefects: Navin and Gjovani
