Armistice Day is on 11 November. It is also known as Remembrance Day. It marks the day World War One ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, back in 1918.
The Academy will be holding a Remembrance Day Assembly to remember all the people who have died in wars, not just World War One.
More information about Armistice Day can be found at the following link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/15492752
Please visit our library to find more literature about the wars.
Rowan Ridley, a pupil from Uplands Junior School, came along to our recent Open Evening and, to her delight, found herself winning the Treasure Hunt and a copy of the Guinness World Records 2016.
Mrs Hughes, Principal, presented Rowan with her winning prize. Rowan said, “I didn’t realise this school was so amazing. I can’t wait to come, I want to come now”.

St Edmund’s opened its doors to visitors and prospective students to a taste of the St Edmund’s learning environment and to see the caring and nurturing Catholic atmosphere we share. Our classrooms were bursting with lots of activities; there was so much for everyone to enjoy and there was even a treasure hunt for the children.
Many of our students were tour guides and many of our visitors commented on how knowledgeable, confident, polite and skillful they were. They really did convey the best of the unity of our school and especially the Gospel values of service and love.

In support of the Euro 2016 and to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday, students at St Edmund’s Catholic Academy have been selling ‘football’ and ‘birthday’ cupcakes in aid of raising money for charity.
Quxah in Year 12 said: “As a Sixth Form we decided to do a fundraiser where we did a cake sale.
Half of the cupcakes were a celebration of the Queen’s 90th and the other half were for the Euros. It was great to see students getting excited for the game as well as remembering the Queen’s Birthday. This was for a good cause and all money raised will go to The Haven charity In Wolverhampton.”
Pupils and students are all getting into the football spirit here at St Edmund’s this afternoon by watching the match on the big screens!
Come on England!
The deadline for our Scholastic Book Club has changed.
The latest date you can place your order at http://schools.scholastic.
If you haven’t ordered yet, why not take a look at some of the great offers across a huge range of titles. Every order earns free books for our school.
You can also send orders into school. Just write out your order including your child’s name, tutor group, number and title of the item you wish to order and total amount to pay. Place this in an envelope with the money and send it in to Mrs Lowe who will place the orders and distribute the items when they arrive in school.
