Advent Calendar of Prayers- Day 22

22nd December 2020Mrs D Ferris

A Day for Resolutions

Lord, I usually leave any thought about New Year resolutions for January.

Yet Advent is really the time for new beginnings,

for new enthusiasms, for new renewed commitment to you.

I would like to feel

more spiritually alive, more resolved.

Help me, Lord, to begin this very day to think about

my New Year resolutions. Amen

Advent Calendar Prayers-Day 21

21st December 2020Mrs D Ferris

A Day to keep Vigil

While shepherds watched in the stillness of the night

suddenly the glory of the Lord shone around them.

There are times when we can only pray

a hurried prayer, Lord in a busy day.

But there are times, too, when we have

the change to be more attentive to you,

like the shepherds keeping watch,

when your presence can shine upon us.

Lord, help us to keep vigil

when we have the chance. Amen.

Advent Calendar Prayers- Day 20

20th December 2020Mrs D Ferris

A Day to Look Forward

O Wisdom, come,

teach us the way of truth and goodness.

O Guide of your people, come,

look after us as our shepherd.

O Root of Jesse,come,

rescue us speedily.

O Key of David,come,

release us from our selfish ways.

O Rising Son,come,

shine on us in night’s darkness.

O King with all auathority,come,

guard us from all dangers.

O Emmanuel, come,

be with us mow, Lord! Amen

Advent Calendar Prayers- Day 19

19th December 2020Mrs D Ferris

A Day to Listen

While we keep our lives busy

with so many things other than you,

yet, Lord, you came to dwell among us;

While we seem so far from you

with so much to take us away from you

yet, Lord you come to dwell among us;

While we are forever on the phone,

or listening to the radio or watching TV,

Yet, Lord, you came to talk with us;

Lord, in the midst of all that’s going on

help me to listen to your voice,

and to share with you this Christmas. Amen.

Advent Calendar Prayers -Day 18

18th December 2020Mrs D Ferris

A Day to Celebrate

Lord, it’s not that easy to remember you among all the street decorations

and festive lights, or to realise that they are connected with your birth.

Many seem to almost shut you out.

We rejoice, nevertheless. We celebrate the day of the Saviour’s birth.

May the lights and decorated trees, the baubles and beads and tinsel,

remind us of the marvel of your love,

the wonder of you sharing your life with our world,

even if the world doesn’t want to know. Amen.

Brothers of the Good Shepherd Donations

17th December 2020Mrs D Ferris

This year the Assistant Heads of Year have done an amazing job in helping with the collection of non-perishable goods for our local Wolverhampton Charity – The Brothers of the Good Shepherd.

We sincerely give thanks to everyone who has donated in any way, this year more than ever, in these very difficult times. We hope this helps in some way to provide some people with a meal this Christmas.

Yesterday our 6 formers helped load the school minibus with our donations and as you can Mrs Hazeldine, our Principal, and Mr White delivered them.

2 Corinthians 9; 10-11

‘And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will break out in thanksgiving to God.’

Advent Calendar of Prayers-Day 17

17th December 2020Mrs D Ferris

A Day to Slow Down

Lord, I get into a rush as Christmas approaches.

The frantic unease of feeling there’s so much to do,

caught between the joy of giving and the worry of choosing presents

or of not forgetting family and friends,

or leaving them off the Christmas card list.

So today, Lord, may I remember the real meaning of Christmas.

Help me to stop all the rushing just for a moment,

to slow down and remember that it is you

who is really at the heart of it all. Amen

Senior Citizens Christmas Joy From Sixth Form Students

16th December 2020Mrs D Curtis

One of our much loved traditions is our annual St Edmund’s Christmas party for local senior citizens. It is the pinnacle of the year for the Sixth Form and, despite the restrictions due to the current climate, this year was no exception.

The students prepared Christmas presents and cards for the nursing home residents at Sunrise of Tettenhall.

Mrs Hazeldine and Mrs Hogg delivered the gifts to the residents and they were extremely touched to find themselves welcomed by residents singing Christmas carols around a piano.
