Basketball Success

On Friday 7th January the Year 8 Basketball Team and the Senior Basketball Team played their league games versus the Kings School.
Both teams won their games convincingly and represented the academy with great talent and enthusiasm. The Year 8 Team, Elliott Igbinoba, Tino Makombe, David Ojeli, Filip Paczsowski, Kobi Chinedu, Eric Okeke and Moses Peter, won 27 – 16.
The Senior Team, Lukas Lopetaitis, Kurt Aco, Kurt Capuno, Adriel Sarmiento and Victor Ojeli won the match 42 – 26.
The next game for both teams is on Thursday 20th January against WGS (away).
Mr Selvey, Head of year 9 and Teacher of PE, was very impressed with the performance of both teams.

Christmas Prayer Competition Winners

The winners of prayer competition on New Beginnings for a New Year are Tom O’connor 8ECH, Olivia Babula 8RPE, Daria Wojciechowska 8RPE and Ali Khan 8DMO

The students each received a chocolate prize for their wonderful efforts.
Students were also invited to wear a Christmas jumper this week which generated a total of £241 for the elected charities for 2021-22 which are Compton Care, Good Shepherd, Cancer Research Uk and CAFOD.

Kindness Matters

We all need to help serve the socially excluded and vulnerable members of society.

This year the Enterprise Homes Group (EHG) are fundraising around the message of Starting a New Chapter, giving all of the people they serve a chance to rewrite their story and we can help.

We are delighted to announce that St Edmund’s will be donating a cheque to EHC for £220 generated from a bake sale and a chocolate Christmas hamper raffle.

Congratulations to Wajihah who won the festive goodies.

Additional Inset Day in 2022

Due to the Queen’s Jubilee, St Edmund’s will have an additional Inset Day on Friday 18th February 2022.

School will be closed on this day.

Christmas Tree Blessing

This year St Edmund’s Catholic Academy and the Compton Park community have been blessed with beautiful Christmas lights on our 27m tree.

 

It is with gratitude and thanks to our wonderful neighbours Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club (@Wolves) who so kindly donated the lights and appointed CKW Contracts Ltd (@CkwLtd) to provide the crane and resources to decorate the tree. We look forward to lighting the sky each Christmas bringing cheer to our Compton Park family.

Sister Rita Leaves India To Serve The Lord

On Thursday 25th November 2021, Sister Rita came to visit our class! She answered our questions and informed us about her religious life journey.

Every student was intrigued by her story. Many questions were asked and many children were inspired by the work she has done to help the community. Sister Rita told us how she became a nun and how she left her family back home in India to fulfill her role in the community. 

Thank you for coming, Sister Rita, it was a pleasure meeting you and listening to you and we also enjoyed your company.

The Royal British Legion has asked people to observe the silence and consider the human cost of war.

Today St Edmund’s students and staff will begin a two minute silence to mark Armistice Day, which bought an end to the First World War, and to remember all of those who have sadly lost their lives to protect our freedom and country.

Animals will also be remembered and commemorated for their contribution in war zones.

Poppy sales have generated £35 which will be passed on to the Royal British Legion to help them provide lifelong support to serving and ex-serving personnel and their families.
