Congratulations to the Year 10 Football Team who won their first match of the Cup against the Royal Wolverhampton School.
Two great goals were scored by Ellie and Emily and a fantastic penalty saved by Remeiya meant we finished 2-0.
Well done to all players – a great team effort. Good luck for the next match v’s Highfields after half term.

This year we have decided to support the charity Link to Hope by donating items for the Shoebox Appeal. Staff and students alike have donated items such as hats, gloves, soap, shampoo, stationary, toys and other essential items.
The shoe boxes will be sent internationally to Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova.
Thanks to everyone who donated items as we really are making a difference to those in need this Christmas.

We are pleased to announce our new Senior Prefect Team has been appointed.
The application process was rigorous and extensive, involving cover letters, video presentations based on Laudato Si and panel interviews. Each student performed with confidence and pride on the range of activities, events and super-curricular work they had done over the years.

On Friday 7th October Imogen Buzzing, Sophie Handley and Francis Ojo were appointed as Lower School Prefects.
This was done in an assembly in the morning to highlight the importance of the role and how well they had done. It was not an easy process and there were several candidates who were worthy of the positions.
However Imogen, Sophie and Francis wrote very nice letters that secured them an interview on Thursday 6th October. All pupils who had an interview presented themselves and their ideas very well. All pupils interviewed again could have been awarded the Lower School Prefect positions, they were that good!
I am now looking forward to working with the Lower School Prefects in further improving the academy.
Mr Selvey (Head of Lower School)

On Friday 30th September, Sixth Form students conducted a bake sale for lower-school pupils where the aim was to raise money for MacMillan coffee morning. MacMillan is an organisation dedicated to supporting cancer patients throughout the country, alongside fundraising and contributing towards medicinal research and awareness.
Throughout the week, Sixth Form students were offered the opportunity to donate £1 or a box of cakes to the sale in return for wearing non-uniform. The pupils showed a strong sense of community and compassion as they came together to donate while also flaunting their fashionable outfits. Some students took this a step further, taking the initiative to take part in running the stall. This involved handing out cakes while also managing the money collected and making sure the younger pupils queued in a safe and orderly manner. They displayed their impressive leadership skills and teamwork.
Overall, the bake sale turned out to be a huge success! Thanks to the contributions from staff and students all over the school, we were able to raise a fantastic £266.85. A true display of our school’s CARE values! It was a great day and the student’s hard work allowed for a joyous experience while raising money for a wonderful cause.
Leoni said, “ I bought a cake that had a cute caterpillar. I support Macmillan because my great uncle died from cancer and I think Macmillan does an amazing job supporting people with cancer”.

On Tuesday 4th October the Lower School celebrated their feast day of their patron saint, St Francis of Assisi. All Lower School pupils attended a liturgy in the sports hall to mark this date. Music, prayer and reflection filled the room. This will become an annual event for the newly established Lower School and the academy is looking forward to the next one.
Prayer of St Francis of Assisi;
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
