Neurodiversity Celebration Week is all about acceptance and celebration of difference. Each person exists in their own way. Being neurodiverse allows a person to perceive the world in a unique way. The talents and strengths neurodiverse individuals have should be celebrated by all. We are all part of one human family and we have a responsibility to help each person achieve their full potential. The loving acts that come with celebration allow us to glimpse God and understand how we can support and rejoice in one another’s joy.
This is a new commandment; love one another as I have loved you – John 13:34

Dementia Awareness Week

This week let us use our talents to help others. Small acts of kindness such as giving time to those who need it are important for all of us. These acts support the wellbeing of the vulnerable and acknowledge human dignity that all people possess. When we see the needs of others, we can defend those who need it, give charity and talk to those with no one to talk to.
“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient and bearing with one another in love”

Today we celebrate the Feast Day of St John of God

St John of God was born in 1495 in Granada, Spain. He was a successful farmer, soldier, and merchant before he devoted his life to God at the age of 42. He founded the order of Brothers Hospiallers who devoted themselves to the service of the poor in body and soul. He is patron saint of booksellers, heart patients, hospitals, nurses, the sick, and firefighters.

 

St Perpetua and St Felicity – Pray for us.

Saint Perpetua and Saint Felicity (believed to have died in 203CE) were Christian martyrs of the 3rd Century. Vibia Perpetua was a married noblewoman, said to have been 22 years old at the time of her death, and mother of an infant she was nursing. Felicity, a slave imprisoned with her and pregnant at the time, was martyred with her. They were put to death along with others at Carthage in the Roman province of Africa.

No More Week

This week is about raising awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault in the UK. Silence and lack of knowledge about domestic violence and sexual assault play a large part in why they persist. Simply wanting to help is a huge step toward ending the shame and stigma that survivors are burdened with.

 

Second Sunday of Lent

After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as light. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.

Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters – one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.”
While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”
When the disciples heard this, they fell face down to the ground, terrified. But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid.” When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus.
As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, “Don’t tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”
