The St Edmund’s family would like to extend a warm welcome to prospective students and families to our Open Evening on Thursday 2nd October. This is a wonderful opportunity to explore our facilities and meet the vibrant, caring St Edmund’s family.
Meet our passionate teachers and students to get a real taste of the academic and extended learning curriculum we offer.
Staff and students will share what makes the St Edmund’s family so special, from academic and pastoral support, to student life and beyond.
The Principal will be giving presentations in the Arena at 6.15, 6.45 and 7.15pm.
Checkout the engaging taster sessions in some of our classrooms. Look out for the medieval experience, Wizard of Oz themed drama, writing in flavour and so much more!
We have plenty of car park spaces behind St Edmund’s and even more parking spaces are located further up the Compton Park Road on St Peter’s College staff car park.
Today we celebrated the launch of our new Catholic Multi-Academy Trust, St Gabriel the Archangel, with all 64 school coming together through a live-streamed Mass to welcome in the new Trust.
St Edmund’s students and staff joined our wider family in the prayer of St Gabriel as we celebrated the archangels, who are considered chief angels of the highest order.
Our family of schools were united together. ‘Forming pilgrims of hope with kind hearts, questioning minds, a thirst for knowledge, and a hunger for justice.’
This was a unique day in the life of the archdiocese, the wider parishes and in Catholic Education who work for our children, sharing the good news of Jesus.
“Listen with love and walk forward together, one community of faith, learning, and messengers of hope. We are forming pilgrims of hope with kind hearts, questioning minds, a thirst for knowledge and a hunger for justice.”

Catholic Social Teaching has always been a part of the Church’s teaching and mission, right from the very beginning of the Church. It was formally written down at the end of the 19th century by Pope Leo XIII in his letter, or encyclical, “Rerum Novarum” (“On New Things”). Today, there are seven key principles or themes to this teaching. Building on the reception of our “Live Simply” award, this year at St Ed’s we will be focusing on the principle of “Care for our Common Home”.
Our three charities this year all work in some way to “Care for our Common Home.” They are:
Father Hudson’s Caritas – Local Charity
Operation Noah – National Charity
CAFOD – International Charity
We encourage all of our extended St Ed’s family to support our students in the endeavours to raise as much money as they can for the vital work undertaken by these charities.

As part of our European Day of Languages celebrations, parents and carers were invited to join us for a ‘European Day of Languages’ themed Macmillan Coffee Morning today.
All funds raised from the sale will go to Macmillan Cancer Support who help raise vital funds to support over 3 million people living with cancer in the UK.
Students also had the opportunity to get involved in the cake sale at specific times throughout the day and were encouraged to come to the academy wearing clothes to represent a country from Europe.
Thank you to all parents and carers who came along to support the cake sale and help us to continue building the strength of our parent partnership and thank you to Miss Blanchette, Curriculum Leader for Modern Foreign Languages for organising the event.

We look forward to seeing you next week for our open evening to meet the staff and pupils, tour the academy, and listen to the Principal’s presentation.
Pre-booking is not required and there will be 3 chances to hear the Principal’s presentation telling you all about life at St Edmund’s and the admission process.
To assist further, we’ve produced this guide to help parents and carers navigate the admissions process.
Further information is also available on the academy website.

Year 7 Welcome Mass – Friday 19th September
This morning our new Year 7 students, along with stheir family members, gathered in the arena to celebrate their “Welcome Mass.” The Mass was celebrated by our new Academy Priest Chaplain, Fr Gerry, who is also the assistant priest at St Carlo Acutis parish here in Wolverhampton.
The readings and prayers of the Mass were taken from the Mass for the Care of Creation, which was very appropriate given that we are currently in the “Season of Creation.” Reflecting on the gospel reading, the Calming of the Storm, and his own school days, Fr Gerry encouraged year 7 to make the most of the opportunities that were given them, and to pray often, asking especially for the help of the Holy Spirit in their lives. He acknowledged that sometimes being in a new, and much bigger school, can be a bit scary – rather like how the apostles would have felt on the boat – but that this was ok as there were always lots of people there to help.
Thank you to all our servers (Sam, Sophia, Chukwudi, Melanie and Subeni), our readers (Xavier and Carter), those who led our bidding prayers (Lily, Lordina, Tamera and Peyton), and those who brought up the gifts for the offertory (Timur, Shanaya and Nolan). All of our students, whether exercising a ministry, or being part of the congregation, did themselves and their families proud! Welcome to St Edmund’s Year 7!

Mr Morris, Curriculum Leader Mathematics, abseiled from the roof of the Molineux on Tuesday 9th September after a rain delayed attempt on Sunday 7th.
He managed to overcome his dislike of heights to conquer the daunting 120ft challenge. Mr Morris said, “The better weather on Tuesday certainly made a scary experience that bit more enjoyable. I’m delighted to have raised over £200 with your help for the Wolves Foundation and the epilepsy society. Many Thanks to you all.”
