To celebrate the 2026 Commonwealth Games coming to Glasgow this month, the ConnectED Team have simulated a Wolverhampton Community Games.
St Edmund’s signed up to be involved, and first we took part in the Wolverhampton Community baton relay. A fantastic group of students received the baton from the King’s School and then transported it to Castlecroft Primary School. It was a lovely experience for all of us, and we were one of a total of 200 schools taking part.
The baton relay then took us into the Wolverhampton Community Games (Wolverhampton’s mini version of the Commonwealth Games). Mr McCrystal took a group of 20 Year 7 students to Aldersley Leisure Village to be involved in a full range of activities, ranging from golf to rugby.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Aldersley for hosting us at the Wolverhampton community games. All of our pupils thoroughly enjoyed the experience and welcomed the different challenges and stations that were set up throughout the day. They got to experience different sports and activities that were led by experts and students. All staff and volunteers got all pupils engaged and involved, which made each session even more enjoyable. Also, a thank you to all pupils who took part, they showed our CARE values throughout the day and set a brilliant example of St Edmund’s.
