Student Medical Needs

Parents of students with medical conditions should contact our medical needs Co-ordinator Mrs Roderick, to discuss any additional needs that require support in school through the schools enquiry email [email protected] or via telephone: 01902 558888.

Medication in School

The academy encourages parents to ask the doctor to prescribe medications in dosages which mean that they can be administered outside of school hours, wherever possible. For example, if the prescription states that twice daily doses should be given, these can be administered in the morning before school and in the evening after school, and if the prescription requires three doses a day, these can often be given in the morning before school, immediately after school and at bedtime.

Where prescribed medication is to be administered at school, the parent/carer will need to complete our Parent/Carer Medication Consent Form below.  Prescribed medication must display the student’s name and prescription label and can be handed in to the Visitors Reception or Student Support.

Where over-the-counter medication is to be administered at school, the Parent/Carer Medication Consent Form below must be completed, and the Parent/Carer must inform the school that medication is being sent into the school with their child by calling 01902 558888 extension 112 and leaving a message.  We will send an acknowledgement of receipt.

Consent to Administer an Emergency Device

If your child is prescribed with an Inhaler or Auto Adrenaline Injector (Epipen) we also request that you complete the Parent/Carer Medication Consent Form.

  • Students should carry an EpiPen with them at all times.  A second EpiPen should be supplied and retained in our Emergency Anaphylaxis Bag.
  • Students with an Inhaler should carry their inhaler with them.  A second Inhaler should be supplied and retained in First Aid.

A paper copy of the Parent/Carer Medication Consent Form is available upon request.
